Dipshit Drops to 24 Percent Approval

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Deepening unhappiness with President George W. Bushand the U.S. Congress soured the mood of Americans and sent Bush's approval rating to another record low this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 -- the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

This is great news!!

A 24 percent approval rating means that even some of those who watch the Fox Opinion Network now realize what a loser this bastard is. Stick a fork in the chimp, he's done.

Social Security Benefits Increase a Whopping $24 a Month

WASHINGTON -Social Security benefits for nearly 50 million people will rise 2.3 percent starting in January, the smallest increase in four years. The typical retiree will face the challenge of using the extra $24 to cover higher costs for everything from gasoline and food to medical care.

The new cost-of-living figure announced Wednesday by the Social Security Administration means the typical retired worker's benefit check will go from $1,055 per month to $1,079.

Wow!!! This one must really pain the Chimp Abomination. No doubt Bush wipes his Cheney each day using $50 bills. However the compassionately conservative douche bags in the Bush Abomination are going to sacrifice half of one of those bills for each Social Security recipient in the country.

Despite her lifelong belief in and support for the Repignofascist Party, I'm really glad my mother is no longer around to have to reap the benefits of Social Security under the compassionately conservative family values folks in the Bush Abomination.

A Matter of Intelligence

One of the world's most eminent scientists was embroiled in an extraordinary row last night after he claimed that black people were less intelligent than white people and the idea that "equal powers of reason" were shared across racial groups was a delusion.

James Watson, a Nobel Prize winner for his part in the unravelling of DNA who now runs one of America's leading scientific research institutions, drew widespread condemnation for comments he made ahead of his arrival in Britain today for a speaking tour at venues including the Science Museum in London.

Despite the fact that James Watson himself, one of the two biologists who discovered and described dNA that set off an explosion in the study and understanding of genetics came up with these concepts, he will soon be blasted and creamed and smeared for being insensitive.

Senator Larry "Wide Stance" Craig, Repignofascist of Idaho, today claimed that he was entrapped by police officers in the Minneapolis aiport last summer.

That may very well be true, Wide Stance, and I tend to believe you on this angle. However, Wide Stance, if its true you were entrapped and you knew you were entrapped, why did you 1) plead guilty to the sex charge, 2) refuse to tell your wife and family what happened until after this story broke in the media two months after your arrest, and 3) so vigorously deny reality after your conviction? Some things just don't add up, Wide Stance.

As my uncle the supreme bullshitter once said, "you can't bullshit a bullshitter" and Larry your bullshit is getting so deep its almost clogging the blood vessels in your brain.

For one, I encourage you to continue this assinine folly of trying to get your conviction overturned. Each day you continue you keep the "family values" wing of the Repignofascist Party in the media spotlight. I'll bet at a time like this you wish the Repignofascists had been successful in getting laws passed allowing only the Fox Opinion Network to broadcast news in this country. Today marks five years since the authorization of military force in Iraq, setting Operation Iraqi Freedom in motion. Five years on, the Iraq war is as undermanned and under-resourced as it was from the start. And, five years on, Iraq is in shambles.
As Army captains who served in Baghdad and beyond, we've seen the corruption and the sectarian division. We understand what it's like to be stretched too thin. And we know when it's time to get out.

What does Iraq look like on the ground? It's certainly far from being a modern, self-sustaining country. Many roads, bridges, schools and hospitals are in deplorable condition. Fewer people have access to drinking water or sewage systems than before the war. And Baghdad is averaging less than eight hours of electricity a day.
Iraq's institutional infrastructure, too, is sorely wanting. Even if the Iraqis wanted to work together and accept the national identity foisted upon them in 1920s, the ministries do not have enough trained administrators or technicians to coordinate themselves. At the local level, most communities are still controlled by the same autocratic sheiks that ruled under Saddam. There is no reliable postal system. No effective banking system. No registration system to monitor the population and its needs.

The inability to govern is exacerbated at all levels by widespread corruption. Transparency International ranks Iraq as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. And, indeed, many of us witnessed the exploitation of U.S. tax dollars by Iraqi officials and military officers. Sabotage and graft have had a particularly deleterious impact on Iraq's oil industry, which still fails to produce the revenue that Pentagon war planners hoped would pay for Iraq's reconstruction. Yet holding people accountable has proved difficult. The first commissioner of a panel charged with preventing and investigating corruption resigned last month, citing pressure from the government and threats on his life.

Against this backdrop, the U.S. military has been trying in vain to hold the country together. Even with "the surge," we simply do not have enough soldiers and marines to meet the professed goals of clearing areas from insurgent control, holding them securely and building sustainable institutions. Though temporary reinforcing operations in places like Fallujah, An Najaf, Tal Afar, and now Baghdad may brief well on PowerPoint presentations, in practice they just push insurgents to another spot on the map and often strengthen the insurgents' cause by harassing locals to a point of swayed allegiances. Millions of Iraqis correctly recognize these actions for what they are and vote with their feet -- moving within Iraq or leaving the country entirely. Still, our colonels and generals keep holding on to flawed concepts.
U.S. forces, responsible for too many objectives and too much "battle space," are vulnerable targets. The sad inevitability of a protracted draw-down is further escalation of attacks -- on U.S. troops, civilian leaders and advisory teams. They would also no doubt get caught in the crossfire of the imminent Iraqi civil war.
Iraqi security forces would not be able to salvage the situation. Even if all the Iraqi military and police were properly trained, equipped and truly committed, their 346,000 personnel would be too few. As it is, Iraqi soldiers quit at will. The police are effectively controlled by militias. And, again, corruption is debilitating. U.S. tax dollars enrich self-serving generals and support the very elements that will battle each other after we're gone.

This is Operation Iraqi Freedom and the reality we experienced. This is what we tried to communicate up the chain of command. This is either what did not get passed on to our civilian leadership or what our civilian leaders chose to ignore. While our generals pursue a strategy dependent on peace breaking out, the Iraqis prepare for their war -- and our servicemen and women, and their families, continue to suffer.
There is one way we might be able to succeed in Iraq. To continue an operation of this intensity and duration, we would have to abandon our volunteer military for compulsory service. Short of that, our best option is to leave Iraq immediately. A scaled withdrawal will not prevent a civil war, and it will spend more blood and treasure on a losing proposition.

America, it has been five years. It's time to make a choice.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson Wont Seek Re-Election

Sen. Hutchison will not seek re-election (10/16/2007)
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) will not run for re-election and may leave her seat before her term ends in 2012 to run for governor, a spokesman confirmed yesterday.

Hutchinson, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, told Texas Monthly that she may consider stepping down from her seat in two years.

"Is it better for Texas for me to leave early and give someone else a chance to start building seniority before the class of 2013? I think it probably is," she told the magazine for an upcoming article.

Hutchison spokesman Matt Mackowiak confirmed the comments yesterday.

In her third term in the Senate, Hutchison was pointed to as a possible substitute to Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) as the Senate's champion for nuclear power.

Following Domenici's announcement earlier this month that he was retiring from the Senate, Hutchison praised his work on nuclear power and other energy issues.

In an interview, she credited Domenici for putting a "big stamp" on energy policy and said he has "done the most of anyone in the last 10 years." She vowed that she and other supporters would continue working on Capitol Hill to help see that new investments in reactors come to pass (E&E Daily, Oct. 5).

Hutchison told the magazine she has not decided whether she will run for governor (AP/New York Times, Oct. 16). -- EB

Kay Bailey Hutchinson has to be one of the most disgusting pieces of protoplasm floating around in the Congress. Not only is she a transplanted Texan like Bush, she is also viscious lying bastard in a league with Bush.

She is getting out of the Senate to run for Governor??

The real reason she's getting out of the Senate is because she can sense the complete and total disgust of the American public with the Repignofascist Party and all it stands for and Kay realizes that on January 3 2009 when the new session of Congress begins she will be even further in the minority in the Senate.

So, she's making it known now that she's bailing. Probably this is a good strategy on her part because it serves to remove her a bit from her support for the abomination in the White House. Still it should come back to bite her in the ass.

The unfortunate thing is that the majority of Texans are stupid enough to vote for Bush (twice) and Rick Perry, so they are likely to install this idiot as Governor despite all of the horrific things the Repignofascist party has done to America and to Texas.

POLITICS: Alaska lawmaker receives 5-year sentence

A federal judge sentenced former Alaska state Rep. Tom Anderson (R) to five years in prison for seven felonies involving corruption while in office.

U.S. District Judge John Sedwick said Anderson "sold the public trust" through his money laundering, extortion and bribery activities.

"He took the money because he wanted the money," Sedwick said. "I have a very considerable concern for sending a message to the community that we can't tolerate this kind of behavior" (Lisa Demer, Anchorage Daily News, Oct. 15).

In December 2006, the FBI arrested Anderson on a federal bribery warrant.

He was found guilty of seven felonies in U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska in July of this year. He was the first Alaska legislator convicted in a scandal that has investigated the possibility that other representatives took bribes from VECO as well, including former Alaska House Speaker Pete Kott (R) and Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens (R) (Greenwire, May 8). -- KB

My buddy Mike in Michigan has come up with the perfect new name for the Repignican Party. What Mike proposes they be called is Repignofascists. Wikipedia tells us that a fascist is actually :

Another Bush Fuck Up Takes Its Toll

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson called Tuesday for an aggressive response to deal with an unfolding housing crisis that he said presents a significant risk to the economy.

In the administration's most detailed reaction to the steepest housing slump in 16 years, Paulson said that government and the financial industry should provide immediate help for homeowners trying to refinance current mortgages before they reset at much higher rates.

While Chimpy has been darting around jousting at windmills containing non-existent weapons of mass destruction, the economy of the United States has continued to slide further and further into a Hooverian abyss. Nobody cares, however, because you can't scare the populace into Repignofascist submission with economic gloom and doom.

When the bust comes in the American economy and we have Hooverian soup lines all over again all but those who watch the Fox Opinion Network will be able to point the finger at the total lack of anything resembling regulation that has been the hallmark of the Bush Abomination as the cause. All Bush has cared about since the beginning of his illegal occupation of the White House has been funneling money into the pockets of his rich and highly greedy compatriots. Fuck regulation.

And while that mentality has been in place, you me and the rest of us who have yet to benefit from a single Bush policy continue to take it in the shorts. The emminent failure of the American economy is but another example of how that will happen.
