Bushies Worried About Being Subpoenaed

Promoted to domestic security adviser in 2004, she became a loyalist and said she was leaving wearied by the acrimony that hangs over Mr. Bush’s last year in office.

“I find it both offensive and crippling,” she said. “When both career people and political people are worried about getting subpoenaed, it’s hard to get a lot accomplished.”
Ah, its so sad that the poor crooked Bushies have to worry about being hauled into court instead of being able to run wild with no accountability as they did under the Repignofascist-controlled Congress.

John Kerry Fights for What is Really NOT Important

With the New England Patriots now one win away from finishing the regular season undefeated, Sen. John Kerry is stepping up his campaign to get the final game broadcast on national television.

The contest Saturday with the New York Giants is to air locally in Boston and New York. But outside those markets it is scheduled to appear only on the NFL Network, a cable channel that reaches just 35 million households nationwide while the league and cable operators dicker over pricing and distribution.

Kerry asked football Commissioner Roger Goodell today to move the game to NBC – and threatened Senate hearings if he does not.
Ah, excuse me, John, but who really gives a rat's ass?

For one thing, John, if people want to know about the score of this game they can read the sports page of their newspaper the next day or turn on endless sports networks on television for a recap the night the game is played. End of story.

If you really want to do something that is meaningful why not hold hearings on the war in Iraqnam? Why not bring articles of impeachment against Cheney and Bush? Why not do something about the failing financial system in the United States or the decline of the dollar against world currencies.

In other words, John, if you are going to do something, do something that actually matters.

And regarding your threat of Senate hearings. So freaking what? Since the Dems have taken back the House and the Senate there have been endless hearings in both chambers. But what has come of them? Has ANYONE gone to jail because of a House or Senate hearing? Has anything changed? Bush and his cohorts blow off all challenges of Congressional hearings and there are no consequences so what value is there to a hearing? We now live in a land where the law is an after thought. Senate hearings are even further down the list.

Its all well and good that you are doing something for your constituents, but why not do something that matters? I'm sure there are more than a few people in Massachusetts who are the parents of children who are about to be blown up in Iraqnam for no earthly reason whatsoever. I'm thinking they would appreciate your efforts to get their children out of harms way a hell of a lot more than they would being able to watch a football game on the tube.

Get a life John.

This is so commonplace any more it doesn't hardly qualify as news any longer.

How Hillary Lost Her Invincibility

When Hillary Clinton launched her campaign nearly a year ago, the media buzz deemed it near impossible for the likes of Barack Obama and John Edwards to overcome her daunting campaign machine. The endorsements, the money, and the cream-of-the-crop strategists combined with the former First Lady's incumbent image to make her the clear-cut choice of the Democratic Party establishment.
Hillary lost her invincibility by never having been invincible.

Despite what the polls touted, I know of only 2 people, both professional colleagues, who support Hillary. Two. And I live in the progressive-thinking hotbed of Northern Virginia and the only people I associate with are Liberals. Only two.

I remain convinced that the reason that Hillary was always the Democratic front runner is that the conservative-biased media wanted her to be. Since day one the talk has all been about Hillary this and Hillary that and never hardly ever was there mention of anyone else. The media chose Hillary to be the front runner, I think because the conservative-biased media knows how divisive she is.

The only way the Democrats are going to win the 2008 Presidential election is by taking some of the southern states. Can you for a moment imagine a redneck in Wedowee, Alabama, voting for Hillary? I can't either and that's been the plan all along.

Hillary is only about Hillary. She's calculating and refuses to take responsibility for her votes in the Senate favoring Bush and his illegal war in the Middle East.

Several months ago I was hoping against hope that Hillary would fall and so would Obama and out of the ashes would rise Al Gore, the one real hope for this country. Hillary has fallen but Al hasn't risen. I still don't know who I will support in 2008. Maybe its time to vote for Alfred E. Newman again? Its certainly not time to vote for Hillary.

Bush Seeks to Restore Tattered U.S. Image With Heavy '08 Travel

Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's diplomatic passport will acquire a slew of new country stamps during his final year in office as he tries to rebuild the U.S.'s international standing and create a foreign-policy legacy beyond Iraq.

The president plans trips to the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America, which would make 2008 his busiest year abroad. While his major domestic initiatives may get stalled by a Democratic majority in Congress and the gridlock caused by election-year politics, he still has an opportunity to exert his influence overseas.
Ah, excuse me, George, but I think you're about seven years too late to try to clean up the image of America in the eyes of the world community. I think you've committed just a few too many mistakes for you to fix things. However if you insist on trying I am offering you a list of 15 things you can do immediately to attempt to untarnish the image of the United States in the eyes of the world.

Ready?

1. Immediately remove all American troops from Iraqnam. Their presence in the country only inflames passions against the US. Claim some sort of "victory" so your manlihood does not further deteriorate and move on.

2. Embrace, support and defend the Kyoto Accord and move vigorously to accept and implement all the recommendations of the Bali Conference on global warming. Do it today before it gets hotter out.

3. Apologize to your mythical axis of evil publicity stunt, and beg those countries forgiveness for you being such a fantastic horses ass.

4. Accept the results of the 16 intelligence agencies about Iran not having a nuclear program. Get over it. You've started two wars already and lost both. Do you want to be a three-time loser at that also?

5. Immediately fire and replace both Dick Cheney and Condi Rice - both of whom don't know the first thing about diplomacy.

6. Do whatever is necessary to turn around the freefall of the American dollar. Doesn't it tell you anything when the oil producing countries no longer want to trade in the dollar and merchants in India no longer want to accept the dollar? Both Ecuador and Panama use the American dollar as their "home" currency. I'm sure people in both countries aren't doing backflips over you because of how your fiscal policies have destroyed their economies also.

7. Tear down that stupendously foolish wall you are building along the US- Mexico border. I wonder how much progress could have been made in keeping people from wanting to come to the United States to work if instead of building a wall, you used the money needed to build it to help improve the economic conditions in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras so people there didn't feel the need to move to the United States in the first place.

8. Slap the shit out of Jenna and tell her to keep her tongue in her mouth or her boyfriends mouth - creating scenes in Argentina requiring the Ambassador to ask her to leave the country does nothing for the image of this country. In the run up to the 2000 election you claimed that Al Gore was incapable of raising children because his son had been cited for speeding. Do you think Jenna sticking out her tongue at the media is maybe a bit worse?

9. Stop impeding the will of the people by refusing to cooperate with Congress on the investigation of your cabinet and staff. Harriet Miers and Karl Rove investigations come to mind immediately.

10. Immediately implement measures that require real gas mileage standards on vehicles driven in the Unted States. In 2002 in Sweden I drove a Ford product built in Europe that got 62 miles per gallon. If Ford can build them there why can't they build them here? Show the world that the United States no longer wishes to be the gluttonous abuser of a finite oil resource. Do something to show some leadership for a change.

11. Admit that your presidency, just like every business venture you have attempted before it, is a failure and then immediately tell every country on earth - everyone - that you are the one person responsible for the world's economic meltdown, and the rise of Islamic fanaticism. Dubya, when the people of Barbados are upset with you, that should be a clue that you have screwed up royally.

12. Apologize to Cindy Sheehan and admit that you've been an asshole since the day she first tried to talk with you about your "noble cause" in Iraqnam. Show the world that you are a man for a change and apologize.

13. Attend the funeral of at least one American kid you have sent to his or her death in Iraqnam because of your lies.

14. Denounce as foolish your "Mission Accomplished" publicity stunt on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln in May 2003. The only "mission" you "accomplished" that day was to prove to the world that you're nothing more than a draft-dodging prep school cheerleader trapped in a 60 year old body.

15. Resign. Follow in the footsteps of Tricky Dick and just quit. Just move back to your fake ranch in Texas purchased by your campaign contributors and dream about what could have been. Give the world a very Merry Christmas by leaving town and never coming back. Please?

Credit Card Defaults Soaring

In another sign of how thorughly hosed the American economy is, we have this story today from San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO - Americans are falling behind on their credit card payments at an alarming rate, sending delinquencies and defaults surging by double-digit percentages in the last year and prompting warnings of worse to come.

An Associated Press analysis of financial data from the country’s largest card issuers also found that the greatest rise was among accounts more than 90 days in arrears.
As the story goes on to say, this development is another signal of the fraility of the American economy. One thing that is most unfortunate is the fact that alot of families in the era of Bush's robust economy have to use their credit cards simply to survive. Then along comes their monthly bill or bills and they cannot make the payments.

Much of the blame for this debacle rests with the credit card companies who constantly flood your mailbox with offers for credit cards; some companies specialize in giving credit cards to people with poor credit histories - like me! All of my foreign travel in the last 14 years had to be financed somehow and I did it on the cards egarly provided by any number of banks. How else could I have purchased airfare, paid for hotels and rental cars and hung out for a week or so? In 2005 I made five trips to Europe and the Middle East on top of a couple jaunts to the Caribbean, one to South America one three week trip to Southeast Asia, and two trips to Hawaii. I didn't pay for these trips with cash. Instead I ran up a hellacious credit card debt and had to seek out a debt reduction program to keep from going under. I brought it all on myself. Yet, despite my debt reduction program I continue to receive offers to more credit and more credit cards each and every week.

Another thing that contributes to the huge credit card debt crisis is the extortionate interest rates they charge. With the prime about 7 percent, credit card companies are charging up to 3 times that. A quick check of the six credit cards I still have revealed that the interest rates range from 17 percent to 24 percent. The credit card companies are participating in legalized theft yet you can bet that soon they will be before Congress crying about how much money they are losing to unpaid debt and abandonment of payments. They brought it on themselves.

An old friend died about 10 years ago. He was in his early 80s. At the time of his death he had 16 credit cards that were maxed out. He just paid the minimum bill on each of them. His philosophy was that he was going to die sometime soon anyway, and the credit card companies were foolish enough to keep offering him cards, so he kept maxing them out and paying the minimum while traveling to go birdwatching every possible moment he could travel. As he said more than once "once I'm dead will I really care how much I have on my credit cards?" It was a philosophy I picked up from him.

If I croaked tomorrow it will be up to the credit card companies to deal with the aftermath, not me. I could care less about Bank of America's bottom line. They gave me a credit card despite me having no fiscal discipline. They can absorb the consequences.

All Thumbs Up for "Charlie Wilson's War"

Last night I saw "Charlie Wilson's War" and think that it is a movie you should see if you haven't already. You can view a trailer for it here.

After seeing it I can't undertand why the Repignofascist fringe is so upset about the movie, other than maybe because it portrays a Democrat being pro-war like they are. You can read some professional reviews of the movie here.

The truly sad thing about the story is that it depicts how many zillions of dollars the United States pumped into Afghanistan (a $1 billion appropriation one year) to arm the mujahadeen. What the story doesn't tell you is that many of those same CIA-provided armaments that brought a victory for the Afghans against the Russians are being used today, and have been used since October 2001, against the invading American forces occupying Afghanistan.

Tom Hanks was his usual excellent self, and the co-starring role by Philip Seymour Hoffman was excellent. Julia Roberts, on the other hand, was looking old. I hope that was just an artifact of the make up.

If Charlie's war is in your town go see it. If not, wait anxiously for it to appear and as a last resort, pick it up when the DVD comes out. You won't be disappointed.

Bush Administration Disregarded Numerous Warnings About Blackwater

The U.S. government disregarded numerous warnings over the past two years about the risks of using Blackwater Worldwide and other private security firms in Iraq, expanding their presence even after a series of shooting incidents showed that the firms were operating with little regulation or oversight, according to government officials, private security firms and documents.
Does the incompetence of the Bush Administration in this story sound the least bit familiar to anyone? Does anyone else see a part of a pattern of looking the other way once campaign contributors have been given their share of the trough? Does anyone give a damn?

Billions in Aid to Pakistan Was Wasted, Officials Assert

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — After the United States has spent more than $5 billion in a largely failed effort to bolster the Pakistani military effort against Al Qaeda and the Taliban, some American officials now acknowledge that there were too few controls over the money. The strategy to improve the Pakistani military, they said, needs to be completely revamped.
Is this classic Bush mismanagement of just about everything or what? Notice in the story the use of the phrase "too few controls over money." Sound familiar? Sound at all like Bush's handling of the mortgage industry? More appropriately does it sound like anything and everything related to the Bush Administration since it first took office 7 very long years ago?

The Bushies are masters at winning elections and starting wars. However they don't know a thing about managing either after they have succeeded. And its not just the Bushies. The entire Repignofascist slate of candidates is all about winning and pandering to the base on non issues like immigration and burning the damned flag. They could care less about making things work.

Bush wanted to run government like a business. I would imagine that any business that causes $5 billion to be squandered would be removing its CEO at the next board meeting. Too bad Bush didn't set up a Board of Directors when he put out his management agenda in February 2001. Of course nobody would remember it existed now.

Wake up sheeple.

Rudy Lies About Firefighter Radios

I'm not sure about you, but to me Rudy's performance here certainly indicates he is capable of taking over the reigns from Bush. It would be seemless. Both lie through their teeth and blame others instead of themselves.

Heckuva job, Rudy.

US Government Scrambles to Contain Mortgage Crisis

WASHINGTON - After a slow and stumbling start, official Washington is scrambling to try to prevent the unfolding mortgage crisis from pushing the country into recession during an election year. There is a strong feeling, though, that the government will need to do more to avert a financial disaster.
Once again the total ineptness of the Bush Abomination heads its ugly rear.

Had the Bushies been willing to provide some oversight and regulation of the mortgage industry the current mess likely would not have happened. However they were too busy mollifying their campaign contributors, providing them with endless tax breaks and other perks, to have really cared. After all, as Grover Norquist and the rest of the neocon wing of the Repignofascist Party will tell you, government regulation is wrong.

You and I and everyone else are about to find out how "wrong" it was to not regulate the mortgage industry.

Heckuva job, Dubya.
