Back in the early days of all the full court lying that went on in the run up to our illegal invasion of Iraq, I could have sworn I heard various talking heads tell us how much better Iraq and especially Baghdad would be with Saddam gone.
This was in addition to the stories we were told about being greeted as liberators, greeted with flowers and us being "in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."
We were also told that living conditions would be so much better in Baghdad after Saddam was deposed....well and we found all of the weapons of mass deception that were going to be unleashed "in a moments notice" and that could arrive here "in the form of a mushroom cloud."
Remember all that horse hockey?
Well look at this story from yahoo.com news.
BAGHDAD - Much of the Iraqi capital was without running water Thursday and had been for at least 24 hours, compounding the urban misery in a war zone and the blistering heat at the height of the Baghdad summer.
Residents and city officials said large sections in the west of the capital had been virtually dry for six days because the already strained electricity grid cannot provide sufficient power to run water purification and pumping stations
This doesn't sound like the residents of Baghdad are all that much better off now than compared to when they had Saddam in charge. In fact it seems (when you read a news source from outside the Fascist States of America) that more and more Iraqis wish they still had Saddam in power. Granted they had a much greater risk of disappearing with him there, but at least they had electricity and water as they waited.
I think to get to the bottom of this latest story of gross mismanagement on the part of the Bush Abomination we need John McCain and Joe Loserman to don their protective gear and head back for a shopping trip to the Green Zone. Lets wait to hear how the water tastes while they are there. And the Senators aren't aren't allowed to ship in bottles of Evian either.
