The conservative-biased media strike again!
RALEIGH, N.C. - In his time off between presidential bids, Democrat John Edwards courted Wall Street financial gurus and Main Street labor leaders.
But when it comes to the money backing his second campaign, the wallets of wealthy attorneys who propelled the former trial lawyer's first run for the White House still open more than most. More than half of the Edwards donors who listed their occupations said they are attorneys, and they have given seven times more than any other profession, according to an Associated Press analysis of campaign finance data.
In this obvious hit piece designed to carry on the "he has lawyers on his side" meme of the 2004 campaign we learn the horrible truth that - gasp- lawyers are helping to fund John Edwards' campaign for 2008. Who'd a thunk that one lawyer would help out another lawyer on a campaign for office?
It would be most instructive to look at the list of contributors to Rudy Guilani's campaign or Senator Straight-talk himself John McJowl. Do you think they took money from wealthy lawyers? I'll bet they did but they aren't mentioned here.
And why doesn't this story tell about the zillions of dollars that Big Pharma and Big Oil have pumped into the troughs of the Republic Party candidates so far this cycle. Where is that analysis?
If the conservative-biased media wants to be taken seriously for being "fair and balanced" they need to start early in the 2008 process treating each candidate the same. In that spirit do you think we can expect to see a list of what insurance companies and HMO's have contributed to Rudy's campaign? Come on, tantalize us.
