Reichsmarshall KKKarl von Rove to Resign

We should all be singing "ding dong the witch is dead" over the departure, just 18 days from today, of Bush's brain. But to do so would be premature.

WASHINGTON - Karl Rove, President Bush's close friend and chief political strategist, plans to leave the White House at the end of August, joining a lengthening line of senior officials heading for the exits in the final 1 1/2 years of the administration.

On board with Bush since the beginning of his political career in Texas, Rove was nicknamed "the architect" and "boy genius" by the president for designing the strategy that twice won him the White House. Critics call Rove "Bush's brain."

In any normal situation prosecutors and others would be waiting with baited breath to subpoena Rove and make him testify. But in this Administration none of that will happen. He will slip by the cracks and go unscathed. He should be prosecuted for any number of crimes including the release of Valarie Plame's identity. But he will skate.

He'll skate because the Democrats don't have the balls to pursue him. They don't want to be perceived as partisan (even though the Repignicans own the country because they are partisan). Instead we'll watch as KKKarl transitions into another life.

My guess is that Rove's departure is in line with the coming announcement by Fred Thompson that he is running for President. Just watch.
