Sex Ed Found to Delay Teen Sex

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Teenagers who have had formal sex education are far more likely to put off having sex, contradicting earlier studies on the effectiveness of such programs, U.S. researchers said on Wednesday.

They found teenage boys who had sex education in school were 71 percent less likely to have intercourse before age 15, and teen girls who had sex education were 59 percent less likely to have sex before age 15.
This would be a blow to the Bush Administration if it believed anything other than what it wants to believe.

Just last weekend the Washington Post reported that at least 14 states have rejected the Bush mantra about abstinence only education.

You don't need to be a math major or minor to realize that everyone 20 years old and older has survived their teens. And all of those teen survivors remembers quite vividly what it was like dealing with your first erection or rolling around in the back seat of your car with someone as horny as you are. Sex is going to happen. Its an innate drive to reproduce the species. Wasting money on trying to convince teens not to do what they want to do in the backseat is akin to pouring water through a sieve.

Teaching kids through sex education about the consequences of engaging in sex much m ore effective than throwing money at an effort to get kids to not do what they are going to do anyway.

I often wonder how many of the "christian" whacko's out there who push abstinence only were virgins on their wedding day. Given all of the sex scandals that have been exposed among Repignofascists in the last 7 long years of the Bush Abomination, my guess is damned few.
