Family Mourns Woman Who Died at Airport

NEW YORK (AP) - A traveler who may have accidentally choked herself to death while handcuffed in an airport holding cell was a "wonderful" woman and mother, according to New York City's public advocate, who is her relative.

Carol Anne Gotbaum, 45, was arrested Friday at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix after she became irate when gate crews refused to let her board a flight for which she was late, officials said.
I guess the gestapo must have considered her a turism threat and that was why they wasted her.

Seems par for the course with US Scareways also.

Limbaugh Calls Soldiers Opposed to Iraqnam War "Phony Soldiers"

During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers." He made the comment while discussing with a caller a conversation he had with a previous caller, "Mike from Chicago," who said he "used to be military," and "believe[s] that we should pull out of Iraq." Limbaugh told the second caller, whom he identified as "Mike, this one from Olympia, Washington," that "[t]here's a lot" that people who favor U.S. withdrawal "don't understand" and that when asked why the United States should pull out, their only answer is, " 'Well, we just gotta bring the troops home.' ... 'Save the -- keeps the troops safe' or whatever," adding, "[I]t's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people." "Mike" from Olympia replied, "No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh interjected, "The phony soldiers." The caller, who had earlier said, "I am a serving American military, in the Army," agreed, replying, "The phony soldiers."
Yup. Sure. Ok, Rush. You should know. You are the person who used the phony excuse of having a boil on your ass to avoid service during Vietnam. You have no business referring to anyone, other than yourself, as a "phony soldier."

GALLUP: Trust in Federal Government, On Nearly All Issues, Hits New Low -- Even Less Than in Watergate Era

NEW YORK A new Gallup poll reveals that, as the organization puts it, Americans now "express less trust in the federal government than at any point in the past decade, and trust in many federal government institutions is now lower than it was during the Watergate era, generally recognized as the low point in American history for trust in government."
Hmmm...This is interesting. And who, as we know, is in charge of the Federal government these days? Oh, yes, a little man-child from Connecticut via Texas who has no interest in the quality of the government he was elected to run. All he's interested in is finding avenues for his cronies to make huge profits off that government.

And isn't it interesting that the public now has "less trust in the federal government than at any point in the last decade."....Hmmm....and who has been running this government into the ground for much of the last decade. I wonder if there is a correlation?

Wake up, Sheeple.

Larry "Bathroom Boy" Craig Votes Against Bill To Protect Him

Moments ago, the Senate voted 60-39 to end debate on the Matthew Shepard Act, which expands federal hate crimes laws to include violence based on a victim's sexual orientation, gender, disability, and other factors.
This is pretty hilarious. Today Larry Craig voted against legislation that would have protected him and other homosexuals against hate crimes. What a dolt.

Bush Defends No Child Left Behind "Childrens Do Learn"

NEW YORK, Sept. 26 -- As a candidate, George W. Bush once asked, "Is our children learning?" Now he has an answer.
Here is your answer if you have ever asked the question, "Is this stupid bastard capable of chewing gum and walking at the same time?"

Austrian Court Proves George Bush Is Not Human

VIENNA, Austria - He's now got a human name — Matthew Hiasl Pan — but he's having trouble getting his day in court. Animal rights activists campaigning to get Pan, a 26-year-old chimpanzee, legally declared a person vowed Thursday to take their challenge to Austria's Supreme Court after a lower court threw out their latest appeal.
More than anything else this story applies to our Fuhrer, George Bush. We knew all along that he was not human. Now a court has proven it for us.

Migrating Birds Can "See" Earth's Magnetic Field

This absolutely fantastic story about bird migration came out in an online German outlet today.

LONDON (Reuters) - Migrating birds, it seems, can "see" the Earth's magnetic field which they use as a compass to guide them around the globe.

Specialized neurons in the eye, sensitive to magnetic direction, have been shown for the first time to connect via a specific brain pathway to an area in the forebrain of birds responsible for vision, German researchers said on Wednesday.
Anyone who has spent more than a few moments in their lifetime has watched and probably wondered about the spectacle of bird migration. And if like me you have wondered "how in hell do they do that?" here is a partial answer.

In March 1985, an assistant of mine captured and color-marked a male Kirtland's Warbler on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera. When captured the bird was in an area of Lantana no more than 4 acres in size. This bird, that we dubed "The Governor" because he was caught near Governor's Harbour, stayed in that four acre patch of vegetation the rest of the winter.

During the summer of 1985 we found The Governor on his nesting territory in northern Michigan where he was with a mate and a nest full of young birds. That following winter we found the Governor in the same four acre patch of Lantana on Eleuthera. During the second summer he was back in the same territory in Michigan. During the third year the Governor was in the same place on Eleuthera all winter and on the same territory in Michigan the following summer.

So how did a simple minded bird weighing less than an ounce navigate so precisely betwen these two areas 2,000 miles apart? By using the earth's magnetic field.

Now, in the current research, we learn a bit more about the wonder of birds and their migration.

The next time you want to call some dolt a "bird brain" you might want to reconsider it. This research shows that its not a derogatory thing after all!

Incommunicado

The only time I have flown on Cayman Airways was in 1985 from Grand Turk to Miami. On that flight I noticed that the airline has a Green Sea Turtle as its tail emblem and with it came the words "We Go the Extra Smile for You." On arriving in Miami, my field assistant and I decided that those words were not Caribbean enough for this fine island airline. We thought long and hard over several boat drinks and finally came up with what we thought was an acceptable motto. It remained simple but, to us, it sent a powerful Caribbean message. What we came up with was: "Yeah Mon Fly Caymon."

Excited about the possibilities of helping Cayman Airways become more Caribbean in its reach we sent a letter to the Vice President for Marketing at Cayman and provided him with our idea. We were so serious about this new name that we told the airline they could have it for free. Simply seeing our idea on the tail of every Cayman Airways jet (they had 3 at the time) was compensation enough.

Cayman Airways never wrote back.

I last traveled to the Caymon islands in July 1987. After a 20 year plus hiatus I'm going back there today. My plane leaves in a few hours for long weekend in the islands, mon. From there I go to Wisconsin for the funeral of my uncle the marine. Being a Luddite technologically I don't have a laptop so I wont be back online until next week Wednesday. So when you don't see any Bush lampoonings for the next few days know that its because I'm playing. It's not because the Department of Homeland Surveillance storm troopers have finally hauled me away.

Maybe I'll work on another motto for Caymon Airways while I'm there.

CEOs, Bush Rangers Rebuff Republicans on War, Widening Deficit

Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Dozens of corporate executives who backed President George W. Bush for re-election in 2004, including some of his top fund-raisers, are now helping Democrats running for president.

John Mack, chief executive officer of Morgan Stanley, Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp., and Terry Semel, chairman of Yahoo! Inc., are among some 60 executives writing checks to Democrats such as Senators Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois, a review of U.S. Federal Election Commission records shows.
It certainly took these folks long enough to figure out that following the mandates and dictates of the Republic Party was not good for their health.

Despite it taking so long, at least now they shouldn't be making the same foolish mistakes they made earlier. If he wasn't soo ignorant, information like this would say to the resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW that only those who watch Fox Opinion Network support him and his party any longer. But, ignorance and arrogance are his trademarks. Is it November 2008 yet?

Federal Money Encourages Farmers to Destroy Native Prairie

Of course anyone who has lived more than 18 seconds on the North American prairie knows that Federal tax dollars are encouraging landowners to kill native prairie. Of course the US Fish and Wildlife Service will view this as a way to partner with people rather than fighting these bastards to stop the carnage. Thats how things operate now that testosteone has been sapped from the agency.

GRASSLANDS: Federal money prods farmers to convert fields -- GAO E&E Publishing Story Tools

Allison Winter, Land Letter reporter
This story first appeared in E&ENews PM.

Federal subsidies have encouraged U.S. farmers to plow up millions of acres of grasslands and convert them to row crops, according to a new report released this week by the Government Accountability Office.

The report found that farm program payments are an "important factor" in producer decisions to convert grasslands. In response, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) said he intends to include a requirement in the new farm bill that would cut off federal support for anyone who plows up prairies.

"We need to have farm policy that protects farmers and the environment from unintended consequences," Harkin told reporters Tuesday.

Currently, farmers can receive crop subsidies, crop insurance and disaster payments for crops planted on former grasslands. Harkin wants to cut off all three of those in his "sodsaver" requirement in the farm bill. The House-passed farm bill has a less stringent measure that would cut off only crop insurance.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), whose state was highlighted in the GAO report, said in an interview Tuesday he would support the sodsaver requirement as long as it has a "balanced approach" that "fits with the reality of the planting practices of the last 30 years."

Farmland conservation and wildlife groups are supportive of the more robust protections for grasslands, which provide vital habitat for birds and other wildlife and help protect watersheds from runoff.

The United States lost almost 25 million acres of privately owned grasslands from 1982-2003, according to the report. While some of those acres went into development or other land uses, the chief use was for cropland.

New crop technology and rising crop prices, spurred by the growing demand for ethanol, have inspired farmers to plant crops on acres that were once considered marginal or unsuitable for crops.

The grassland conversion is leading to even higher federal disaster and insurance payments, according to GAO.

In a case study of South Dakota farmers, GAO found that the 16 counties with the highest grasslands conversion rates received 40 percent of all disaster payments from 1998-2004. Crop insurance payments in those counties over the past 10 years were also twice as high as other counties with less grassland conversion.

Federal subsidies for these conversions may be working at "cross purposes" with conservation programs, according to GAO. From 1982-1997, South Dakota farmers enrolled 1.69 million acres in the Conservation Reserve Program but converted 1.82 million acres to cropland.

"Current policy has one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake," said Ferd Hoefner of the Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, which supports Harkin's sodsaver proposal.

Current farm policy includes a less stringent "sodbuster" provision that requires producers to use certain soil conservation systems if they receive federal payments to plant highly erodible land that was once grassland. But GAO said the effect has been marginal because much of the native grasslands that farmers have converted did not qualify as highly erodible.

New farm bill deadline set

Harkin said he expects his committee to vote on the farm bill before the Oct. 6 Columbus Day recess, even if he does not have more money from the Finance Committee by then.

"I can't wait on them," Harkin told reporters Tuesday.

But while Harkin vowed to move his bill through committee in the next three weeks, he also held open the door for the possibility that he might just extend the current farm bill if he cannot find enough support for his rewrite.

"I am not unalterably opposed to extending the present farm bill." Harkin said. "We are going to try to do a new bill."

He said bypassing the committee process to bring the House-passed farm bill straight to the floor is an "option," but he does not expect to go that direction.

Flipping Off Dick Cheney

I passed the Old Executive Office building as I walked down 17th Street NW yesterday afternoon, enroute from the Farragut West metro station to the World War II memorial. In front of this fascinatingly ornate building I saw the standard entourage of uniformed Secret Service agents accompanied by a couple in plain clothes (you can always tell the latter by the antennae sticking out of their ears).

Never being one to pass up an opportunity to make a political statement, I pulled out my cell phone to call a friend to tell him where I was standing. As I finished dialing my left hand mysteriously rose up above my head and suddenly, out of nowhere, the middle finger of my left hand extended itself. Then, as if magnetized, my extended finger found itself pointing at the Old Executive Office Building where Deadeye Dick Cheney has his office. Several years earlier just around the corner from the OEOB at the southwest entrance to the White House, I was able to give George Bush the finger, to his face, as he departed the people's house in a limo. Today I was able to complete a sweep of the unelected officials destroying this country by telling Cheney, through my finger, to go Cheney myself.

As I stood there giving the building my one-finger salute, I attracted the attention of two uniformed Secret Service agents. They were across the street from me watching me, no doubt because of my finger and the fact that I was on a cell phone. If only I knew enough Arabic to have a conversation with someone at a time like this. But I didn't. Instead I just waved the tips of my fingers at the SS agents, closed my cell phone, and walked south toward the Memorial.

Some days I feel really lucky to be living in Washington DC and having the opportunity to make statements like this - even though it was Cheney's office building I told to go Cheney itself not Deadeye himself. I guess its the thought that counts.

Military Cemeteries Full - Another Bush Accomplishment

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (Reuters) - A Kansas military cemetery has run out of space after the burial of another casualty of the Iraq war, officials said on Thursday.

"We are full," said Alison Kohler, spokeswoman for the Fort Riley U.S. Army post, home of the 1st Infantry Division.
Another bold Bush initiative comes to fruition.

Canadian Dollar on Par With United States Dollar - First Time in 31 Years

TORONTO - Canadians are expressing pride in their economy but might be more inclined to go on shopping sprees in the U.S. after the Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S. dollar for the first time since 1976.

Thanks to a sinking U.S. dollar and soaring commodities prices that benefit oil-rich Canada, the "loonie" — named for the Canadian bird depicted on the one-dollar coin — could be exchanged 1-for-1 with the greenback Thursday.
I was shocked in July when I was on Prince Edward Island to see the Canuck buck at 0.95 to the US Dollar. This was quite a switch from the 0.70 to the dollar when that despicable blowjob meister, Bill Clinton, was running the US economy.

A Question for Hillary Clinton

Why has no one in the media or on either side of the politcal fence bothered to ask how is it possible that Senator Clinton, a former first lady, had no idea that all the reporting coming from the White House regarding Iraq was grossly overstated and in some cases outright lies? Every US president has full access to CIA files even after leaving office. While it may be an unwritten understanding, that also applies to the wives of those former presidents. However one must ask how could Senator Clinton not have known: that the speeches were not vetted for accuracy, that the alleged meeting in Prague never took place, that Hussein was not seeking yellow cake in Niger as stated by Colin Powell as fact, etc. As this was unfolding all Hilliary had to do was roll over and ask Bill if the CIA documents backed this up? So why has no one called her on this?

Pope Ben Refuses to Meet With Fang Rice

Pope Benedict XVI refused to meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in August, saying he was on holiday, an Italian newspaper reported Wednesday.
What kind of a message does it send when the Pope won't meet with a high ranking official of the Bush Abomination? He was either 1) afraid of being savagely gnawed on my Condi's formidible incisors, 2) simply fed up with the constant flow of lies that come from the mouth of the Chimp and his minions or 3) 1 and 2 above.

Whatever the reason that Ben decided to diss Condi and the Bush Administration I'm in favor of it. Unfortunately the Chimp is too arrogant to realize that when "god" is dissing him, he doesn't have many places left to turn.

But, Dubya, if you decide you want to slash your wrists over this, I know of about 200,000,000 Americans who will gladly loan you the equipment needed. No charge.

Tribute to a Great Man and Great Marine

At 1:05 a.m. Wisconsin time this morning, my uncle Eldrue “Al” Faanes, 84, of Sun Prairie Wisconsin died after a lengthy battle with a medical condition – the same condition that took Jimmy Buffett’s dad. The world is a sadder place today because of my uncle’s passing.

Born on a farm near Prairie Farm in Barron County in November 1922, he had just turned 19 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Not long afterward both he and my dad joined the military. My dad was in the Army; Eldrue joined the Marines. My dad was shipped off to Europe and then finally to guarding German prisoners of war at Camp (now Fort) Polk, Louisiana. Eldrue went to the Pacific.

He saw some horrific things in the Pacific and was involved in some horrible battles. Being a survivor, he returned to Wisconsin, used the GI bill, and attended the incomparable University of Wisconsin getting his Bachelors degree and eventually a Masters degree. He was a physical education coach at Cameron, Wisconsin, for a few years and then became a whiz at selling life insurance. It was then that he and my aunt moved to Sun Prairie where he lived the rest of his life.

My uncle always found time for me even though he lived 240 miles away at the other end of the state from Barron County. I remember him taking me to Chicago when I was 12 where we visited the Field Museum of Natural History and the John Hancock tower. It was in the latter that I encountered my first revolving door. Not knowing any better, I foolishly tried to stop the moving door before walking through it and soon my hand and the door frame became one. My uncle had a puzzled look on his face as he said, “well, my boy, that must hurt.”

From there we went to Wrigley Field where we watched the San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs. Highlights of the day were getting Juan Marichal’s autograph, then watching Willie Mays send a baseball into orbit over the left field bleachers only to be followed by Ernie Banks doing the same thing to another ball, almost hitting the apartment building across the street from the right field bleachers. After the game, Eldrue said, “well my boy, that was one hell of a game.”

He took me on my first fishing trip to Canada when I was 13. Along with my cousin Bruce, we hung out in a cabin on a lake near Kenora, Ontario, and spent several days in fishing bliss. One morning I had a healthy tug on my line and then did battle with (and finally landed) my first lake trout. My uncle only said “Well, my boy, that is one hell of a fish.”

I saw my uncle the last time in May 1997 when we returned home to Rice Lake to spread my mom and dad’s ashes on the pasture of our old farm.

This past April I spent a few days at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where I met a Marine from Kansas. I told him a couple stories about my uncle the Marine and this kid from Kansas who, like a typical Marine, could have ripped the spots off a leopard just because they were there, said that I should always be proud of my uncle because of what he had endured in the Pacific. I told him I always have been.

My aunt and cousins took Eldrue off life support 16 days ago. Although he was 84 years old he continued to fight. In an email just yesterday my aunt said that although Eldrue had nothing left to fight with, he would not give up. He was a Marine to the very end.

After leaving my office this afternoon I took the Metro downtown and visited the World War II memorial on the National Mall. I wore my University of Wisconsin t shirt and stood in front of the Wisconsin shrine at the memorial and saluted it for my uncle the Marine. Wisconsin is enshrined here next to that raised area at the peak of the curve - next to that lesser state to the west with a purple football team.

I then walked over to the Ohio shrine and saluted it to honor Edward DeCapita, the father of my friend Mike. Mr DeCapita fought in the China-Burma-India theater but never got to see the memorial before he died in the fall of 2006. I went there to see it for him.

I stopped at the National Park Service Visitor Center to get a brochure about the memorial to send to Mike and started a conversation with the Park Service person behind the counter. I said to him, "My uncle who was a Marine in the Pacific died this morning and I came to salute the Wisconsin shrine for him." Seeing the tears in my eyes, the Park Service person said "He must have been one hell of a man to have been a Marine in the Pacific and survive." I told him that he was. The Park Service person then said he would make sure he walked over to Wisconsin and salute it for Eldrue before he left for the day. I'm sure that he did.

From the World War II Memorial I took a cab to the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) where for the first time that I have ever vistited that memorial I was there alone. I stood at the side of the Memorial looking over the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall where I hummed the Marine Corps hymn and then beside that monument to Marine bravery and fortitude, did a final salute of his Marine buddies for him. Then with a few more tears in my eyes I left for the subway to come home.

In whatever form his energy is now occupying, I hope my uncle is saying “Well, my boy, I appreciate that.”

More Delays in Shift to Iraqi Control

WASHINGTON - In another sign of U.S. struggles in Iraq, the target date for putting Iraqi authorities in charge of security in all 18 provinces has slipped yet again, to at least July.

The delay, noted in a Pentagon report to Congress on progress and problems in Iraq, highlights the difficulties in developing Iraqi police forces and the slow pace of economic and political progress in some areas.
Wait!! How can this be?? Just last week Bush and General Betrayus were telling the world about all the substantial progress being made in Iraqnam. Now this report to the Pentagon comes out and it doesn't spew Bush Administration spin.

How can this be?

It must be the "liberal" media trying to confuse people with facts. Yup. That's it. The damned liberal media. I think I'm going to turn on the Fox Opinion Network so I can get to the bottom of the OJ Simpson arrest issue.

Matt Damon Disgusted by the Chimp

Hollywood superstar Matt Damon lashed out at both the Bush Administration and Tinseltown while visiting France to promote his latest spy flick, "The Bourne Ultimatum," according to French broadcaster RTL.
Funny thing is - I know exactly how he feels.

Now watch the Reichwing nuts come unglued and try to boycott his movies or some other fruitless response. I wonder if the moron's running country music stations will attack him like they attacked the Dixie Chicks when Natalie spoke the truth about the Chimp in March 2003? I hope so. It will only make Damon's comments more popular.

The Terrorist State of Israel Is At It Again

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel declared the Gaza Strip an "enemy entity" on Wednesday and said it would reduce its fuel and power supplies to the Hamas-run territory in response to rocket attacks by Palestinian militants.
Once again Israel thumbs its nose at anything resembling an attempt at peace in the Middle East knowing full well that its co-conspirator, the United States (the only country that is a larger sponsor of terrorist acts than is Israel) will be there with billions of dollars in aid to bail out Israel and buy votes back home.

President Bush's military buildup and the conflict in Iraq have meant soaring profits for defense contractors and big paychecks for CEOs. But should we be concerned?
Meanwhile, as Bush's campaign contributors become even more filthy rich, American kids caught in the crossfire and dying daily for his lies, don't have properly armored vehicles to protect them from roadside bombs. Something is wrong with this picture. Yet the chickenshit Democratic majority in the House and Senate is afraid to attack the miserable Republic Party and its standard bearer because they are afraid of getting Fox Opinion Network upset with them.

Jesse Jackson's Stupidity Knows No Upper Limit

The Rev. Jesse Jackson called Tuesday on Democrats seeking the 2008 nomination for president to give S.C. voters “something to vote for” when they go to the polls in January.

On a statewide tour to register new voters, Jackson said South Carolina will determine “who has momentum” in the primary when it votes Jan. 29.

Jackson sharply criticized presidential hopeful and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for “acting like he’s white” in what Jackson said has been a tepid response to six black juveniles’ arrest on attempted-murder charges in Jena, La. Jackson, who also lives in Illinois, endorsed Obama in March, according to The Associated Press.

First of all, whatever seminary ordained this viscious hypocrite needs to be excommunicated. Secondly, can you imagine the riots that would ensue if someone said that Barack Obama was too "black" to be president? J.H. Christ there would be buidlings burned and people killed in stampedes and it would be a return to the summer of 1965 if someone said that.

But Jesse spews his racist hatred and we are all supposed to cower so we don't offend his sensibilities.

You know what, Jesse?? Go Cheney yourself you despicable hypocrite.

Senator John Warner (R-VA) Is a Loyal Bushie After All

I just sent the following letter to Senator John Warner (Repignican-Virginia) through his online contact site. What a waste of protoplasm this hideous bastard is:

You can't retire soon enough you worthless piece of flotsam. Be ashamed of yourself John, very ashamed.

Mitt Romney - Mormon Wingnut

Check out this article showing what a waste of protoplasm Mitt Romney really is.

Here are a couple of the better quotes:

Of course, some of our kids are enemies themselves; one audience member picked by Romney's staff ofbreasty volunteer chicks to "Ask Mitt Anything" is a middle-aged white woman with a fine command of Rovian code words. Explaining that she is a teacher who works in a "socioeconomically low" area, she complains that her students are not motivated to get better test scores because, they tell her, "We don't have to work -- we'll get a check just like my mama does." Romney delivers a heartfelt solution to the lazy-Negro problem, saying you can predict which black kids will fail in school by seeing which ones have two parents come to parent-teacher night.

Romney is easy to make fun of, but he knows his business; in a world where bullshit rules the day, he does bullshit better than anyone.

Another man at the event who appears to be mentally disturbed says he likes Romney because the candidate's slogan, "True Strength for America's Future," communicates to him that "the Space Center makes the United States a superpower."

And to think this dreg wants to be the "president?" Well, hell, consider the thing currently sitting in the White House. Can Romney be any worse or mentally incapacitated?

Authoritarian Mormons in Utah Arrest 70 Year Old Great Grandma for Not Watering Her Lawn

OREM - Betty Perry pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges she failed to water her lawn and resisted arrest when an officer attempted to cite her.
Good "god"/Allah. Don't the authoritarian Nazi police of Mormon-infested Utah have anything better to do than run around harassing little old ladies (probably in tennis shoes) for not watering her lawn?

This is but another example of how far the United States of Theocracy has sunk under the Bush regime. Instead of working issues out, we now immediately bring out the heavy hand of the police state to intimidate and arrest people.

Meanwhile, Osama bin Forgotten languishes in the peace and serenity of a cave in Pakistan laughing his ass off at the United States where its maximum leader says "I just don't spend that much time on him."

Public Not Buying Bush's Surge Spin

Think Progress has a story on a new CBS News Poll showing that the current wave of Bush/Petreaus spin on "the surge is working, the surge is working" isn't being bought by the public.

As with everything else Bush-like, 31 percent of the population still believes the lies. That 31 percent remains constant no matter what the issue. Of course about 31 percent of the American public watches the Fox Opinion Network as their primary "news" source. Therefore its not a little surprising that 31 percent of the sheeple love whatever Georgie spews.

US Prosecutor Arrested Seeking Sex With 5 Year Old

DETROIT (AP) - An assistant U.S. attorney from Florida was arrested in an Internet sting operation after flying to Michigan to have sex with a 5-year-old girl, authorities said Monday.

John D.R. Atchison, 53, was arrested Sunday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after several weeks of Internet conversations between the prosecutor and a detective posing as the mother of a 5-year-old girl, authorities say.

"There wasn't much reaction from him at all," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said. Atchison was cooperative with authorities, he said.

He was charged with using interstate communication to entice a minor to have sexual
contact and traveling across state lines with the intent of engaging in illicit sexual contact. If convicted of both charges, he faces up to 40 years in prison.
According to court records, Atchison initiated an online chat Aug. 29 with an undercover officer posing as a mother interested in letting men have sex with her daughter.

At one point, Atchison said: "I'm always gentle and loving; not to worry; no damage ever; no rough stuff ever ever," according to an affidavit filed in court.
Atchison, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., is a prosecutor for the U.S. attorney's office for northern Florida, based in Tallahassee. He requested a court-appointed lawyer at his hearing Monday.
In response to this story, I sent the following email to the US Attorney's Office in Tallahassee asking for some clarification:

Dear US Attorney's Office, Tallahassee

Hello. I saw this story today from the Associated Press regarding a prosecutor in your office and had to ask if Mr Atchison is, as I suspect, a Republican. It seems that members of the party of family values just cant behave sexually any more (former Congressman Mark Foley, and the former head of the Young Republicans come to mind immediately), so I wondered. I'd love to put some information about this despicable act of a public servant on my blog, but need to know his political affiliation first.

Any insights you care to provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I just heard back from an attorney in that office who told me that its "not the policy of this office" to discuss the political belief's of its employees.

Having worked for the Federal government for now more than 30 years, that can be translated to mean "Yes, he's a Repignican but we are loyal Bushies and won't out him."

Wake up Sheeple.

US Contractor Banned by Iraq Over Shootings

BAGHDAD, Tuesday, Sept. 18 — Blackwater USA, an American contractor that provides security to some of the top American officials in Iraq, has been banned from working in the country by the Iraqi government after a shooting that left eight Iraqis dead and involved an American diplomatic convoy.
I wonder what sort of action the loyal Bushies would have taken had this happened to Haliburton?

Oil Reaches $81 a Barrel Yesterday

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil surged to a record high above $81 a barrel on Tuesday, drawing strength from concerns of a winter supply squeeze in the world's top consumer where an anticipated interest rate cut is calming recession fears.

U.S. light crude for October delivery rose 56 cents to $81.13 a barrel by 11:15 p.m. EDT after touching a high of $81.18 earlier in Tuesday's session and a $1.47 jump on Monday. London Brent crude for November rose 22 cents to $77.20 a barrel.
At least Bush has accomplished one thing in his horrifically long tenure living in the White House.

Father of Dead Marine Beaten and Kicked by Pro-War, Pro-Bush Crowd in DC Last Saturday

Carlos Arredondo, 47 year old father of two sons, arrived in the nation's capitol on Monday, 09/10/07 to share a memorial he has made to honor for his eldest son, Alex. Carlos has visited thirty of the United States with the traveling memorial to his son Alexander. Lcpl. Alexander S. Arredondo, USMC was killed on 08/25/04. He was 20 years and 20 days old. The memorial consists of a casket, poster- size photographs of Alex when he graduated from boot camp, before his second tour in Iraq, lying in state at his wake, and a photo of Alex with his younger brother Brian.
I'm certainly glad that I'm not a compassionate conservative like the Gathering of Morons who follow the Fox Opinion Network and who beat up fathers of kids killed in an illegal unjust war.

GAINESVILLE -- A University of Florida student from Weston was stunned with a Taser and taken to jail on Monday after police say he disrupted an event with U.S. Sen John Kerry and refused to leave.

The incident was caught on video, which has since been distributed on the Internet.
You expect this sort of totalitarian response by the pigs when someone exercises their right of freedom of speech at a gathering of loyal Bushies, but not when a Democrat is talking to a group.

Tuning Out the Lies

In what was billed as a major televised address on Iraq, President Bush last week “recycled tired rhetoric” and “mumbo jumbo” about staying the course. Sen. Jack Reed delivered a direct response, pledging the Democratic leadership would “exercise our Constitutional duties and profoundly change our military involvement in Iraq.”

Fourth-Rate Buffoons

Check out this excellent synopsis of the non-candidate candidates from the Republic Party, each of whom are clammoring to not end, but extend, Bush's disasterous mistake in Iraqnam.

Quietly and miserably, like an anxious mother tiptoeing away from an autistic child who has fallen asleep with his helmet on, the Republican Party continues its hopeless search for a viable nominee while backpedaling from its own disaster in Iraq. The candidates, all of them -- I exclude here Congressman Ron Paul, who is an uninvited guest to this ball -- are fourth-rate buffoons, not one of them qualified to hold down the last ten minutes of a weekday open-mike night in a Skokie comedy club. They are divided into two categories: those who try to avoid talking about Iraq by saying nothing at all, and those who try to avoid talking about Iraq by talking loudly about something else.

Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) - Further Removed from Realitiy than Suspected

Scroll down to the bottom of this Associated Press piece and read for yourself how far removed from reality the Repignicans are and most assuredly Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is.

Fox Opinion Network Censors Sally Field's Anti-War Comments at Emmys

At last night's Emmy Awards show, the audience cheered Sally Field’s acceptance speech, which the recognized mothers of U.S. troops. “Surely this [award] belongs to all the mothers of the world,” she stated. “May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised. Especially to the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm’s way, and from war. I am proud to be one of those women.”

Field then continued, “If mothers ruled the world, there would be no –” But the Fox Emmycast cut off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage, silencing the rest of her sentence: god-damned wars in the first place".

Only under the Bush Reich and with Fox Opinion Network cheerleading all the way, has the United States become so incredibly pro-war that voices opposing the waste of human life and tax dollars are censored.

Its time to read 1984 again. Wake up, Sheeple.

Pope Urges Young to Care for Planet

BY NICOLE WINFIELD – Sep 2, 2007 LORETO, Italy (AP) — Pope Benedict XVI urged hundreds of thousands of young Catholics on Sunday to take better care of the planet, saying the world's water supply needs to be preserved and shared to avoid conflicts.

Benedict offered a very eco-friendly message during an open-air Mass on the final day of a weekend religious youth rally in the pilgrimage town of Loreto that was organized by the Italian bishops' conference.

The Italian Church has designated Sept. 1 as "Save Creation Day," and as a result the Loreto meeting carried a strong environmental message, with each of the participants given biodegradable plates, recycling bags for their trash and a hand-cranked cell-phone recharger.

Benedict told the crowd that it was up to them to urgently save the planet from development that had often ignored "nature's delicate equilibrium."
"Before it's too late, we need to make courageous choices that will recreate a strong alliance between man and Earth," Benedict said in his homily. "We need a decisive 'yes' to care for creation and a strong commitment to reverse those trends that risk making the situation of decay irreversible."

He said water, in particular, was a "precious" resource that needed to be preserved since "it unfortunately becomes a source of strong tensions and conflicts if it isn't shared in an equitable and peaceful manner."

Benedict has been on something of a green campaign of late, lamenting just this past week the environmental impact of recent forest fires in Italy and Greece. During his recent summer vacation in the mountains, he spoke frequently about the importance of nature in rekindling spirituality.

An estimated 500,000 people turned out for Benedict's Mass, the ANSA news agency said, citing police. Most of them spent the night camped out on tarps and tents on the field down the hill from Loreto, Italy's most important shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The meeting was an Italian warm-up for next year's World Youth Day, in Sydney, Australia, which the 80-year-old pope plans to attend.

This is a curious plea coming from the leader of a religion that refuses to acknowledge or support the use of condoms and other forms of birth control.

Yo Pope Ben. Its overpopulation that is leading to all of the environmental woes you lament in your plea. Until your church/religion/cult promotes aggressive forms of population / birth control, your plea for environmental protection carries as much weight as anything Bush says about "peace" or fighting terror.

As former nutcase Agriculture Secretary Earl Butz (a Repignican of course) once lamented about the Pope, "He no playa the game, he no makea da rules."

Gates Urges Veto of Troop-Rest Measure

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday he would recommend a veto of a Senate proposal that would give troops more rest between deployments in Iraq, branding it a dangerous "backdoor way" to draw down forces.

Democrats pledged to push ahead with the plan by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., and expressed confidence they could round up the votes to pass it, although perhaps not by the margin to override a veto.
Yet, despite this admission of Gates', the Repignican Party claims constantly that the Democrats are the ones who don't support the troops by wanting to bring them home alive, provide them with body armor so their parents don't have to buy it for them, and striving to reinforce the trucks that are sitting ducks for roadside bombs in the land where we were supposed to be greeted as liberators.

Fuck you Repignicans.

Thai Plane Crash Kills 88

PHUKET, Thailand - A plane carrying foreign tourists crashed Sunday as it tried to land in stormy weather on the resort island of Phuket, engulfing some passengers in flames while others kicked out windows to escape the smoke-filled cabin. At least 88 people were killed.

The budget One-Two-Go Airlines flight was carrying 123 passengers and seven crew members from the capital Bangkok to Phuket when it skidded off the runway in driving wind and rain, officials said. It then ran through a low retaining wall and split in two
Of all the countries on earth, why is it that bad things keep happening to wonderful, loving Thailand? Among the 98 countries I have visited Thailand rockets to the top three of those I enjoyed the most and its the only country that caused me to have a tear in my eye when I left it.

I was in Phuket in October 2005, 10 months after the Christmas 2004 tsunami swept ashore creating havoc and bedlam all over the island. Ten months later, during my visit, there were signs all over the island proclaiming proudly that "Phuket is Back!" Now this has to happen.

Looking at this picture I think it was taken from about where the Thai Royal Orchid Business Class lounge sits in the Phuket airport (no alcohol served there). The heavily forested small hills behind the wreckage look eerily familiar. The picture is taken looking north. The Andaman Sea is to the left (west) about 1000 feet from where the plane crashed. When I landed and departed from Phuket we landed to the right in this picture, coming in off the ocean and landing toward the northeast. If my bearings are correct and the plane followed the same landing pattern I was on, then it must have crumpled immediately on touching down on the tarmac - it just wasn't that far from the end of the west end of the runway.

I'll never understand why bad things happen to good people like the wonderful, loving, Thais. I'll also never understand why people like George Bush or Dick Cheney couldn't have been riding on this MD-80 this morning instead of all the others.

If It Doesn't Fit You Must Acquit

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- O.J. Simpson was arrested Sunday on charges related to an armed robbery involving sport memorabilia, police said.

Simpson was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. and is being brought to a police office, Capt. James Dillon said. Police are still determining charges against Simpson.
I hope this time what fits is the gun barrel this viscious criminal bastard used in the robbery and I hope it fits firmly in his anal pore. Maybe some time in the slammer with people who couldn't buy their way out of a murder they committed is just what this bastard needs.

Greenspan Tells The Truth About Iraqnam War

AMERICA’s elder statesman of finance, Alan Greenspan, has shaken the White House by declaring that the prime motive for the war in Iraq was oil.

In his long-awaited memoir, to be published tomorrow, Greenspan, a Republican whose 18-year tenure as head of the US Federal Reserve was widely admired, will also deliver a stinging critique of President George W Bush’s economic policies.
The only reason Alan Greenspan has "shaken" the White House is that finally someone associated with the Bush Administration (in his case peripherally) has spoken the truth about why Bush illegally invaded Iraq.

Bush Push for Oil and Gas Development Drilling Hole in Repignican Base

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The Bush administration's aggressive drive to promote oil and gas drilling on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains has sparked growing anger here among traditional Republican constituents who say that the stepped-up push for energy development is sullying some of the country's most majestic landscape
This is great news. Unfortunately vast areas of the American west will be destroyed for oil and gas development while the Repignicans slowly figure out they are getting hosed by their Fuhrer. In the end they will still wind up voting for Repignicans because they just can't bring themselves to vote for someone progressive. So nothing will change except the character of the surface of the earth.
