The Latest Stupidity in the "Terror" Crackdowns at Airports

A-mazing!

Terror crackdown as passengers forced to answer 53 questions in airport inquisition

The Brits are now as out of touch with reality as are the Americans. Don't these speed balls remember that on September 11, 2001, nineteen Arabic travelers cum hijackers were asked a barrage of questions and they obviously lied their way past them to get on four jets and hijack them. What utter stupidity.

After law abiding citizens have been subjected to a barrage of 53 questions - then what? Anyone determined to blow up a plane is going to lie through their teeth anyway - just as the September 11 Nineteen did six years ago. So what will be the positive outcome of this idiocy?

The most impressive airport screening I've ever experienced was in Tel Aviv, Israel. There, travelers pull up in front of an airport terminal where massive Rottweilers pull soldiers around behind them. This is after you have passed through four armed entrance stations where you are checked and rechecked. Once in the terminal you are required to walk through a metal detector before you can approach the check in counter. Once past it, you check in at the counter where someone asks you some relevant questions (but not 53 of them!). Then you move to another metal detector before getting to your gate. Once at the gate you are patted down by airport security people. When the flight is called you walk to a bus that takes you to your plane. Before boarding that bus, everyone is required to identify their luggage after being patted down. The bus takes you to the plane and before you board it you are patted down again. This is all done by Israeli soldiers. To me this seems like a much more effective use of the military than having our children killed for Bush's lies in Iraqnam.

The entire check in process takes maybe 25 minutes maximum. Its humane. Its logical and it obviously works. Despite all of the turmoil in that part of the world I do not seem to remember any El Al jets being hijacked and flown into buildings in recent years.

Don't get me wrong. There is a need to screen passengers but lets use some common sense. Everyone of us out there has seen the frequently porcine idiots from TSA who harass passengers in the United States pulling aside some 99 year old grandma who forgot to turn on her hearing aid because she made the metal detector go off. If I remember correctly none of the hijackers on 9/11 were grandma's.

Asking travelers 53 questions before boarding a flight at Heathrow is as assinine as harassing your nearly-deaf grandmother about her knitting needles.
