Officials Worry of Summer Terror Attack - OR - Fearmongering 101
This story would be laughable if it wasnt so efficient at making me...well..laugh!
You can tell that the Bush cabal is severely worried about his poll ratings because we are moving back into "scare the public into submission" mode just like we experienced in 2004 before the election.
Bush has nothing left in his bag of tricks than to slither back to the old "the turists are gonna 'tack us" mentality. This of course is concocted by Karl Rove and spewed forth from him.
Now in this story we learn that U.S. counterterror officials are warning of an increased risk of an attack this summer, given al-Qaida's apparent interest in summertime strikes and increased al-Qaida training in the Afghan-Pakistani border region.
Has anyone ever stopped to ask this question: If the Bush anti-terrorism people know so much about what al-Qaida is thinking and planning why can't they catch them? If this is the brain center for Osama bin Forgotten, why in hell is he not in custody?
Remember also back to Farenheit 911 where the Psychiatrist-turned-Congressman from Seattle says that "people will do anything when they're scared." Bush wants us to do just that now. And the candidates for the Repugnican nomination in 2008 are in large part fomenting that same line of thinking.
And lest we forget, former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Surveillance, Tom Ridge, admitted in 2005 to issuing trumped up "terror alerts." How can this current one be any different than those Tom concocted?
Early on in his tenure in the White House I wrote Bush and reminded him of the fable of the little boy who cried wolf. I suggested that if he continued along his same line of reasoning and kept acting like the sky was going to fall, eventually the American public would say "ho hum, I need a beer" when these dire warnings came out.
Dubya, we're at the point now. We'll endure you for 559 more days then you can go from being a dry drunk back to a wet one. Until then, please, with all undeserved respect, go Cheney yourself and find a way out of the quagmire you have created in Iraqnam. This "there's a terrorist behind every tree" lingo just doesn't float our boats any more.
