Live Earth Concert - Antarctica

The indie band Nunatak will be the one band playing in Antarctica on July 7 during President Al Gore's Live Earth concert designed to bring greater global awareness to the global warming crisis that will affect us all. The band, made up of five scientists aged 22 to 28 stationed on the generally unpopulated continent will be the sole performer. Nunatak will be playing to the smallest Live Earth audience — just 17 people — but will be broadcast to approximately 2 billion people.

It will be the dead of winter in Antarctica on July 7. Besides the 17 humans who will listen to the concert, I'm hoping a large number of King Penguins can slide over and take in the show. After all, Penguins and other wildlife have much more to lose from climate change than we humans do.

I only wish President Gore had been able to sign Jimmy Buffett and/or the Dixie Chicks to perform at a Live Earth venue. Maybe next time.
