Oil Above $74 a Barrel
Can't you just imagine the hooping and hollering that's going on in the executive corridors of stalwart, earth-friendly companies like British Petroleum, Shell, Phillips and those of a similar ilk with the news of oil being at $74 a barrel today? Sadly for them, of course, it was recently as high as $78 a barrel, but that will come back.
I'm sure that Deadeye Dick Cheney, the man with a permanent snarl, is ecstatic as well. His buddies in the oil industry are raking in the money and that makes the snarl subside for awhile.
Remember back in the 1970s when the nation was facing an oil crisis and Jimmy Carter was President? Remember what Jimmy did? He imposed various restrictions on driving, like lowering the speed limit, as a way to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Compare that with the Bush Administration whose only concern about foreign oil is invading sovereign nations to steal more of it.
