Dear Bob Scheiffer
This story is all well and good and I'm glad you have had enough
However why did it take you four years to come to this point? Why were you not being a journalist and asking real questions of Bush and his claims of WMDs in Iraq in the lead up to our invasion of that sovereign nation? Why have you continued since the invasion to be an apologist for the occupation of Iraq and for all things Bush?
In this story you say that if the United States left Iraq the region "would go up in flames." Where is the evidence for that? What intelligence do we have saying that would occur? Who has conducted the analyses necessary to make that conclusion? Even though you are saying now what you should have said in early 2003, you continue to spew neocon talking points like the region is going to go up in flames.
Welcome to the reality of Bush's folly in Iraq. I'm sure the 3600 or so American kids who have died in Iraq since the invasion began appreciate it that you took until now to see through the haze.
